How The Armadillo Got It's Shell

Ages ago, armadillos didn't have shells. They resembled large rats. They scampered around looking for insects to eat. One day, two armadillos named Andrew and Anne were chasing a colony of ants. The ant ran extremely fast. The armadillos went around the world chasing the ants. They went out to the country, then onto a yacht, which took them to the South Pole, where they met some penguins. From thee, they chasd the ants to Germany, then Japan, backinto the United States. The armadillos chased the ants to a large city.

Once the armadillos reached the city, the ants hid under ground. The armadillos chased the ants down into the sewers. The armadillos made friends with the two foot long sewer rats, who helped them find the ants. The armadillos pounced onto and ate the ants. Still hungry, they came out of the sewer looking for more food.

They found a trash can on top of a steep hill and searched inside for food. They slipped on the lid, and started to skid down the hill. Andrew tried to stop the lid by reached for the ground and trying to jump. He was a coward and wouldn't jump. Anne tried to grab onto something to stop. She failed to find anything. At the bottom of the hill, there was a pool of cement. The lid fell into it, and a wave of wet cement splashed onto the armadillos' backs.

The cement stuck to the armadillos' back in nine segmented pieces. Soon, the cement dried on Anne and Andrew's backs. They tried everything to get it off. It was heavy and uncomfortable. The armadillos were slower than they'd ever been before. They tried to pull it off and roll it off. They even tried to smash into wall at very high speeds. Nothing worked.

Just then, they had an idea! They saw a jail with prisoners breaking rocks with huge hammers. The armadillos rolled up into balls and rolled over to the jail (something that they could never do before!). Once they got there, the prisoner pounded the armadillos with the hammer. The armadillos splatted over by the fence. They were amazed! The shells stayed on. The best part is that even when a large hammer hit them, they weren't even injured! They felt just fine. They were unharmed. This This shell provided great protection. They now had a suit of armor!

They returned to their animal kingdom afterwards. Once they got there, they met the king and queen of the armadillos, King Adam and Queen Amy. Andrew and Amy. Andrew and Anne told the King and Queen about the armor shells they had accquired. The King and Queen requested that all armadillos have a suit of armor.

From that day on, every armadillo could curl up into a cement ball, roll around, and be protected. The armadillos now live in deep burrows, where they don't have to move around quickly and run from predators. They can now slowly dig burrows with their sharp claws and eat bugs all day. The only time they ever need to come out is at night, when they don't have to worry about their safety. Two little armadillos changed the entire species.
