Long ago before elephants had trunks and leapords had spots lived Larry. Larry was a plain ol' rat. Larry wasn't pretty or smart he was just plain ol' Larry. One day while walking through the forest Larry saw beautiful birds flying happily in the air above. Birds had wings, why couldn't Larry? Larry stared at the birds for hours wishing to fly.
Larry decided to visit Giflen the kindly wizard. Larry asked Giflen to give him wings so that he may fly. Giflen agreed but, for a price. Poor Larry had nothing. Larry left, his plain ol' ratty self.
Larry's friends felt sorry for Larry so they gathered all their belongings. There was a wide array of items from feathers to potatoes and from ivory to acorns. Birds gave feathers, squirrels gave acorns, and moles gave potatoes. All of these items were taken to Giflen. Giflen knew how much they cared so he cast the spell.
Overjoyed Larry(the bat) flew through the sky. All of Larry's friends looked up and smiled at the sight of their friend flying through the air. To this day Larry's decendants are called bats and they all fly.
